I was going to ramble on about my Dyno, its design & calibration. But I decided that could wait till next time.
Also because I can then include a few Dyno graphs on modified 4.5 Land Cruisers.
I have decided to elaborate on light systems in this issue, as I quite often have customers come in and explain “jislaaik, maar dis nou ligte” J

It has done less than 250 000 km’s
The motor has done under 10 000 km’s
Whilst the current gearbox has been rebuilt less than 4000 km’s ago.
It is equipped with the following:
3.8L Buick V6 200Hp(4500) 270Nm(1800) Minimum Values. I wanted the Torque for good Off-road manners and carrying a load, of course it mates beautifully to the Slushbox.
Cold Air Induction System bonnet will also be supplied. Cold Air makes more power and on this 4*4 is very high for deep water crossings. Also I use a K&N Filter due to it being able to filter out the really fine dirt as well as being washable.
Th700R4 Automatic Overdrive(27%) Transmission. Once you have taken an Auto box off road you will never stir the Pap again.
Stock 4*4 system. Using Australian adapters to couple the Auto to the stock transfer case. The system has taken the punch for over 10 years.
10 Inch Travel suspension system.
Purposefully we went to mostly original
1 Ton Load Rating. This was achieved by adding a HD load leaf that was still compliant.
Lock Right Rear Diff Lock. If you travel alone you want to make sure you don‘t get stuck !
Raised Breather System. So water cannot get into Diffs and other gears.
Freeflow Exhaust System. Power, Beat what more can I say except that the underbody is so cluttered that I had to make something special.
Semi organic Brakepads. They last forever and really Bite while not worrying about muck.
Dual Tanks 150L. I did not want to be
dependent on Fuel stations and I hate jerry cans (700 km+ range is what you
KC Daylighters having a 4 Mile Range. Kudu‘s, Taxi‘s and Drunks take on a whole new feature.

On the 1 July I sold my last Gotech Computerbox and have decided not to re-order.
Dicktator, Gotech, Mr Turbo etc. are all nice boxes for the enthusiast but when I want to do something serious I’ll go to overseas systems. I know they might cost 30 000 + installed but so will a factory ECU- and they are just as good if not better.
Another reason is that most people who want such an aftermarket system tend not to have enough mechanical knowledge to make it work.
So we get a car towed into the yard that first needs to be brought up to a state where it could possibly start. Even worse is the customer who works his car in our yard. No thanks, it just is not worth it. Maybe sometime in the future again J

The Power Plug is not to be confused with the mostly, overseas sourced and local condition non-specific, re-flash method of tuning that most performance enthusiasts seem familiar with in which the OEM ECU code is simply generically re-written with a hand held programmer via the vehicle’s OBD port.
With the Power Plug, all the changes occur within this unit and are electrically communicated to your vehicle’s engine control system. No changes are made within the OEM computer, and thus all the engine safety parameters as set by the manufacturer remain in place.
This is exceptionally important, especially when taking into account the tough, local, South African conditions, such as high altitude, long distances, high speeds, high temperatures and the various qualities of diesel.
And once the Power Plug is installed, it leaves no electronic “footprint”, and this also applies should you want to remove the unit, unlike when you program the OEM ECU with a re-flash programmer, the ECU knows and records that it has been reprogrammed.
Even if you re-flash your OEM back to stock prior to service work, the OEM ECU dutifully reports how many times it has been re-flashed whenever the dealer checks via their diagnostic equipment, and if it reports something different than what the dealer’s records reflect, some difficult questions could arise.
Add 53.71 Horsepower to 2007 Shelby Ford Mustang GT 500 with K&N Air Intake Kit
The muscled up Shelby Mustang is a glory ride back to the days of Ford's Total Performance period. Forty years later Ford and Shelby have remarried. The new Mustang is striped as a salute to its illustrious past.
K&N Engineering has designed a performance air intake system (57-2571) that is street legal in 50 states for the 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby 5.4 liter V8 engine. K&N dynamometer testing shows a 53.71 horsepower gain at 5900 rpm.
One of the reasons for such a high increase in horsepower is the large free-flowing K&N chrome top air filter (RF-1048). The factory air box is restricted in size and restrictive in air flow especially at higher RPMs. K&N designed a larger intake tube that fits nicely under the front stabilizer.
The tube is oval because the throttle body is also oval. This design means the cross section is larger. The 53.71 horsepower gain is also aided by the radius adaptor's design as it smoothly takes the 6 inch flange of the air filter and mates it with the air intake tube.
The heat shield isolates the filter element from the heat of the engine which results in an immediate flow of cooler air for additional power. It takes less than 90 minutes to install this K&N air intake system. This intake will eliminate much of the air path restriction and let your engine breathe freely. K&N E-0776 and E-0784 air filters for 2003 to 2008 Dodge diesel trucks are noticeably different from the stock filter and can easily be confused by consumers as being "incorrect."
However, both of these K&N air filters do replace the OE flat panel air filter in the factory airbox. Their unique shape and design make maximum use of area in the factory airbox. Both still seal the same as the OE filters, but instead of hanging at the top of the airbox, they go all the way down to the bottom of the airbox. The K&N air filter allows more surface area than a flat panel air filter could provide and greatly increases dust capacity.
